Our Projects

Sabre Demolition

Former Bayonne Lubrication Facility

Location

Bayonne , NJ

Value

$31 Million

This project consisted of environmental remediation, asbestos abatement and complete demolition of structures, over 160 above ground storage tanks coated with black asbestos mastic material, 200,000 square foot of building and one 70 foot high five story former ship loading tower from the Kill Van Kull shipping lanes of Bayonne New Jersey.

Sabre demolished structures via mechanical means using an excavator and shear attachment. The pier was unobtainable by land based equipment.

This unique portion of the contract required an engineered pick plan to remove the structure in (12) individual picks through the use of high bay burning using torches, cutting specific sections of the tower into segments and utilizing a crane barge, spreader bar and cabling system to dismantle the structure.

The framework sections were then shipped to a recycling facility with the use of push tugs and barge scows by use of the waterway.

This multi-year project has consisted of over 200,000 man hours without an injury.
